Lewis Hamilton has shared his thoughts on Ferrari’s recent resurgence in form, as he prepares to end his long-standing partnership with Mercedes and join the Scuderia alongside Charles Leclerc next season.
After a challenging couple of years for Mercedes, particularly since the new technical regulations were introduced in 2022, Hamilton’s upcoming move to Ferrari comes at a time when the Italian team is showing strong progress. When asked about Ferrari’s recent performances, Hamilton expressed optimism and excitement about joining a team on the rise:
> “Of course. Through the year, at the start of the season, if you look at somewhere like maybe China, the Red Bull was a second ahead. But it’s been quite incredible to see McLaren’s rise and then Ferrari’s progress in the last few races.”
Hamilton also highlighted how closely he monitors other teams’ developments, always keen to learn from their advancements. He emphasized that studying onboard footage is a key part of his approach:
> “We all watch the video, all the drivers, we all watch the onboard laps and we’re always trying to see where we can gain time. There are some cars that just react differently and better or worse in certain areas. You’re constantly trying to figure out how to adapt your balance or push the team to develop the car in that direction.”
As Mercedes gears up to end their chapter with Hamilton on a high note, the 39-year-old remains focused on extracting every bit of performance from his current car.
With Ferrari’s recent successes and Hamilton’s unmatched experience, the partnership could be a potent force in the battle against Red Bull and the resurgent McLaren in 2025. The seven-time world champion’s switch to Ferrari is one of the most anticipated moves in F1, especially as the iconic team appears to be on an upward trajectory.
