- The Philadelphia Phillies were dominant for much of the 2024 season, but ultimately, it’s how a team performs at the end of the year that matters most. Unfortunately for them, they faltered late and were eliminated early in the postseason. Heading into the offseason, the Phillies will need to make adjustments to improve for next year.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the team is considering a roster overhaul, which could involve trading one of their 2024 All-Stars. Despite a career-best season, 28-year-old Alec Bohm is reportedly on the trade block. Passan notes that while Bohm was an above-average hitter with a .280/.332/.448 line and 61 extra-base hits, his production dropped significantly in the second half of the season. With a disappointing postseason exit, the Phillies are looking to make changes, and Bohm could be part of that shift.
Bohm was exceptional in the first half of the year, which has boosted his trade value as the winter approaches, especially since he isn’t eligible for free agency until 2027. Many teams, including the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, and Mets, would likely be interested in acquiring an All-Star corner infielder like Bohm. However, the Seattle Mariners could be the most logical destination for both sides.
