PHILLIES BREAKING NEWS: VP Of Baseball Operation Dave Dombrowski Gives Honest Take On Alec Bohm. As Philadelphia Phillies Are Set To Swap Alec Bohm For 3-Time All Star.

The Philadelphia Phillies entered 2024 aiming for a championship.  Now, they might look to shake things up by exploring a trade for Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker.

Dylan Sanders of SI.com suggests that Philadelphia should consider such a move and argues that third baseman Alec Bohm shouldn’t be off-limits. Here’s his proposed trade package:

– **Phillies receive**: Outfielder Kyle Tucker
– **Astros receive**: Third baseman Alec Bohm, right-handed pitcher Andrew Painter, and outfielder/first baseman Carlos De La Cruz

Tucker, a three-time All-Star, was limited to 78 games in 2024 due to injury but still excelled, posting a .289/.408/.585 line with 23 home runs, 49 RBIs, and 56 runs in 339 plate appearances.

### Kyle Tucker as a Long-Term Fit for the Phillies

Tucker’s last year of arbitration is in 2025 before he becomes a free agent, so he could be a target for trade rumors unless Houston extends him with a multi-year deal. Spotrac estimates his market value at a seven-year, $195 million deal.

The Phillies nearly won the World Series in 2022 and were one game away from returning in 2023. However, their 2024 season ended prematurely, leading to questions about potential offseason moves by Dombrowski.

“To me, it’s not about a missing piece,” Dombrowski said at his season-ending press conference, per MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki. “The answer is playing well at the right time… Sometimes you play well, and sometimes you don’t.”

However, Dombrowski is expected to explore roster upgrades, even if it requires difficult decisions.

“We have a lot of good players,” he continued. “I think we just have to be open-minded to what’s available, talk to some clubs, and see what happens. Sometimes you trade good players for good players.”
