After striking his head on the turf during the game, Allen was momentarily assessed for a concussion in the medical tent. He then quickly resumed play. In light of the growing awareness of head injuries, the sequence drew criticism, but the NFL and NFLPA declared on Friday that Allen’s hit by the Bills was appropriately handled.

Through Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the league and union released a statement that said, “The NFL and NFLPA have received the reports from the Unaffiliated Neurotrama Consultant and Booth Spotters and those reports confirm that the steps required by the concussion protocol were followed in the evaluation and clearance of… Allen in last Sunday’s game.”

With nine completions on 30 attempts for 131 yards and one score at the end of the game, Allen had the lowest completion % of his career. Buffalo is set to play the New York Jets in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Monday, and Allen will be travelling with them.
