JUST IN: Colin Cowherd identifies Dak Prescott’s biggest problem with the Cowboys.

The Cowboys’ starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, is the team’s biggest problem going forward, according to Colin Cowherd, who made the bold declaration on his FS1 show, The Herd, while discussing his belief that the team is headed toward a “slow regression” as they take on a challenging schedule over the next seven games.

“With an 81-year-old general manager, the Dallas Cowboys must make excellent draft selections in order to justify what they’re paying Dak going ahead. In the third, fourth, and fifth rounds, they must locate stars. Not talented players; they must locate stars. Cowherd boldly proclaimed, “Do what Pete Carroll did when he got to Seattle, find Richard Sherman in later rounds or Kam Chancellor.” Dak hasn’t proven he can improve on good guys; that’s not who he is, in contrast to Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson. In his heyday, he required both Zeke and Amari Cooper. or Tyron Smith in his heyday, or Zack Martin. Or someone in their prime like CeeDee Lamb, that’s what he needs.

Brutal? Perhaps, but what do you know? As a professional, Prescott has had excellent depth surrounding him, so it’s not like he has a ton of footage to refute Cowherd’s assertion. Should the Cowboys disintegrate in the future, it will mainly rest on his shoulders.

What can the Cowboys do to turn things around if Prescott’s depth chart is a requirement for victory? In light of the fact that they missed out on Derrick Henry in 2023, Cowherd finds one potential solution intriguing.

“Once again, did I mention that the Owner would shortly turn 81 or possibly 82? Or is it roughly that age? Additionally, Cowherd observed, “that general manager/owner has weekly press conferences to stir things up and make the head coach and quarterbacks answer to ridiculous questions.”
