The Raiders in Las Vegas have already had a difficult week due to Davante Adams’ trade request, but they have received some positive news. Trey Taylor, a rookie safety, appeared to be considering a redshirt year after being placed on injured reserve at the beginning of the season.

That may no longer be the case, though. Taylor has a 21-day window to make a comeback, according to the Raiders, who also revealed that he has resumed practicing.
That being said, Taylor is not guaranteed to play this season. If the Raiders feel he’s not ready after 21 days, they could place him back on the IR for the rest of the year. Alternately, they may cut him and then add him back to the practice squad.
Nevertheless, Taylor could be able to establish a role this season. Marcus Epps, the starting safety, will miss the whole season due to an ACL tear. The Raiders will start Isaiah Pola-Mao in place of Epps for the time being because of his excellent play in relief, but they still lack depth.
Taylor seems like an intriguing candidate. The Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the best defensive back in the nation, was earned by him last year. He is the cousin of Hall of Famer Ed Reed. He lost until the seventh round in spite of that.
At 23, he may not have much promise as a rookie because of his age, but his size and athleticism are respectable. It would be wise for the Raiders to see what they have in him. Tre’von Moehrig and Pola-Mao are the two starting safeties of the future and they both play well, but depth is always crucial.
For the Raiders, it would be fantastic if Taylor could develop into a reliable safety in the NFL. Although his return is expected soon, it is still unclear when he will really see the field.
