JUST IN-GOODNEWS: Commanders Outpace Cardinals in Speed

Prior to Sunday’s game, the narrative revolved around the Cardinals’ reunion with former ASU quarterback Jayden Daniels and former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, who were now the offensive coordinator and quarterback of the Commanders, respectively.

Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels Debut Highly Regarded

The previous week’s tough setback to the Lions had left the Cardinals eager to turn things around as well.

Rather, Daniels played a major role in the outcome, which was different from what the Cardinals (1-3) had anticipated. The Commanders dominated the day at State Farm Stadium and won 42-14.

Washington ran for 216 yards despite the Commanders (3-1) being forced to punt and turning the ball over for the first time since Week 1 when Cardinals cornerback Garrett Williams made a stunning leaping interception for Daniels’ first NFL pick.

Though they were just 4 for 4 in that category this season, the Cardinals did start the game with a score when Kyler Murray hit Marvin Harrison Jr. with a nice fade from two yards out on fourth-and-1.

However, that 7-0 lead was short lived.

Daniels completed 26 of 30 passes for 233 yards, a touchdown, and the pick while playing with a sharp look throughout. He added a touchdown and 47 yards of rushing as well. At one time, the Commanders were ahead, 27–7.

James Conner, a running back for the Cardinals, surpassed the 100-yard threshold with 104 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Murray did not have a turnover, but he was just 16 for 22 for 142 yards.
