After being waived, Kyle Larson will play in the postseason, and Rick Hendrick has just responded to the announcement. After NASCAR granted Larson the playoff waiver, Hendrick, the co-owner and founder of Larson’s team Hendrick Motorsports, issued a statement on Tuesday.
Hendrick stated, “We are grateful that NASCAR kept in contact with us during the process and granted our request for a playoff waiver.”
Because he took part in the Indianapolis 500 earlier in the day, Larson was unable to compete in the Coca-Cola 600. Weather caused the Indy 500 to be delayed by over four hours, so Larson left Indianapolis after the race to go to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600.
But as Larson arrived in Charlotte, the weather forced a suspension of the Cup Series race, which was finally halted with 151 laps remaining.
Completing “the double” is one of the hardest tasks in athletics, under normal circumstances, according to Hendrick. “This year’s mix of Indianapolis and Charlotte weather conditions made it impossible, despite our best efforts. While it was difficult to concede place in the standings, we felt particularly bad for the Coca-Cola 600 spectators who missed Kyle Larson’s race.
“Very proud,” according to Rick Hendrick, of Kyle Larson
“I am incredibly proud of everything he accomplished in preparation for these two crown jewel events, as well as the months of planning that our team and our partners at Arrow McLaren put in.”
Although we had hoped for a different outcome on race day, everyone who participated in the program had nothing but pleasant outcomes. Kyle’s performance in May was a superb illustration of the caliber of quality that the NASCAR Cup Series competitors face each week.
Larson is now focused on finishing the regular season well and earning his second Cup Series Championship because he will be participating in the playoffs this fall. However, Larson would want to give it another go soon as he was unable to complete the Indianapolis 500-Coca-Cola 600 double.
“I’m not sure. After the Coca-Cola 600, Larson told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, “Obviously, I’m very very thankful for the experience.” “Up until today, everything about the past two weeks was fantastic, so I’m simply disappointed. Yes, it’s quite depressing.
Today, everything that could have gone wrong did. Therefore, maybe, ideally, you get to do it again and maybe the weather is better the next time.
