Knicks Trade News: New York Knicks Lands Former Phoenix Suns Three-Point Shooting Guard. As He Reunites With Mikal Bridges In A One Year Contract…SEE MORE…

Former Phoenix Suns shooting guard Landry Shamet has signed a one-year contract with the New York Knicks, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

“Landry Shamet, currently a free agent, has finalized a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, according to his agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group. Shamet has career averages of 8.7 points per game and shoots 38 percent from beyond the arc.”

Shamet has been available since July after being released by the Washington Wizards, where he played the previous season following a trade involving Chris Paul and Bradley Beal between the Wizards and Suns.

Before the trade, Shamet was a regular in the Suns’ lineup under coach Monty Williams since his arrival in 2021. He had signed a four-year, $43 million rookie extension with the Suns in October 2021.

Shamet’s previous teams include the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets before his stint with Phoenix.

Now, he will reunite with former Suns teammate Mikal Bridges on the Knicks. Bridges, who was traded from Phoenix to Brooklyn in exchange for Kevin Durant, recently joined the Knicks through a trade from the Nets this offseason.

Bridges recalled watching Shamet in Philadelphia as a catch-and-shoot player and noted their earlier college days, reminiscing about Shamet’s evolution from a point guard to a shooter.

Now, they are together again in New York.
