Ayesha Curry was seen crying after a troubling encounter with French police involving her newborn baby. Following Team USA’s victory over France in the men’s basketball final, footage from Hollywood Fix emerged online showing Ayesha in tears while her mother-in-law, Sonya, had a heated exchange with Parisian officers.
Draymond Green, a teammate of Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors, is also heard in the footage, claiming that someone hit the baby’s head. The incident seems to have involved the Currys and Green being blocked from returning to their car.
In the video, Sonya expresses frustration, saying, “Look, they won’t let us go back over there where we came from. They won’t let the driver come here and they won’t let us go back over there.” At one point, a man begins translating for the police and apologizes, saying, “Sorry about the baby.”
Although Stephen Curry is not seen in the footage, Green’s frustration is evident as he questions the officers, “So, even after him hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?” Sonya, visibly upset, can be heard off-camera demanding, “Stop saying my name. You should be helping us with the baby!”
Later, Sonya tearfully asks the officers, “Let us get to our car,” while Ayesha remains silent and visibly emotional throughout the confrontation.
The couple has not publicly addressed the incident. Their other son, Canon, is seen in the video wrapped in an American flag next to his mother.
He met Ayesha as a teenager at church in Charlotte, where his father was playing, and they married in July 2011. The couple has since divorced.
