Former Oklahoma Women’s College World Series Standout Infielder, Transfers To LSU Tigers…

Early in the softball transfer portal season, a surprise came when Avery Hodge, a standout from the Women’s College World Series, entered the portal. On Thursday, she revealed her decision to transfer to LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge.

During the 2024 season, Hodge shared second base duties with Alynah Torres, achieving a .284 batting average with six extra base hits and nine RBIs. She played a crucial role in Oklahoma Sooners’ national title campaign, taking over at second base and starting the final five postseason games. Throughout that period, she maintained a .400 batting average and contributed defensively.

Now, Hodge moves to LSU, a team that performed strongly in 2024. LSU won the first game of their super regional against Stanford’s NiJaree Canady, but ultimately lost after Canady delivered two shutout victories.

Looking ahead, Oklahoma is set to welcome four new middle infielders from their 2024 recruiting class: Sierra Barker, Gabby Garcia, Kade McKay, and Tia Milloy. These players will have the opportunity to step up following the departures of Hodge and senior shortstop Tiare Jennings.
