Recent rumors about Lewis Hamilton potentially receiving exclusive access to Ferrari’s hallowed “Gestione Sportiva” headquarters in Maranello were addressed ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Despite claims by Italian commentator Carlo Vanzini that Hamilton would be “given the keys” to Ferrari if he made a switch to the team in 2024, Hamilton firmly denied the story.
Hamilton’s Response
Speaking to media, including PlanetF1.com, Hamilton clarified:
“It was not something I was talking about. I look forward to one day getting to see the building and the legendary room because that’s still the same as when [Michael Schumacher] was there.”
This statement puts to rest speculation about any such negotiations involving Ferrari, emphasizing that Hamilton’s focus remains elsewhere.
Hamilton’s Legacy
The seven-time World Champion highlighted his pride in creating a lasting impact within Mercedes through his efforts to promote diversity and inclusion. Hamilton reflected on the changes made within the organization:
“The thing that I’m most proud of… is the work we’ve done with diversity and inclusion. From the first moment sitting down with Toto [Wolff], him being open-minded for the whole team. All team members going through diversity and inclusion training, actually creating a diversity team. I’m really grateful for being a part of [that].”
This focus on fostering change underscores Hamilton’s broader contributions to the sport beyond his on-track success.
The Ferrari Rumors
While Ferrari remains a dream destination for many F1 drivers due to its history and prestige, the rumors connecting Hamilton to the Italian team next year seem to be unfounded. Hamilton remains committed to his current team, Mercedes, and his ongoing efforts to leave a meaningful legacy both in and outside of racing.
