Raiders Lands Former Alabama High School Standout And Ravens RB In A Big Roster Addition. As Head Coach Antonio Pierce Reveals Blunt Reason For Major Decision In Staff Sweep This Season.

The Las Vegas Raiders made several notable moves on Wednesday, adjusting their roster and continuing a midseason overhaul under interim head coach Antonio Pierce.

Roster Updates

The Raiders added two players to their practice squad:

  • Running back Chris Collier: A product of Division II Lock Haven University, Collier entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens after the 2024 NFL Draft. Primarily contributing on special teams, he has appeared in five games this season.
  • Cornerback Keenan Isaac: Coming from Alabama State University, Isaac signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He spent two seasons as a special teams player before being waived by the Buccaneers last week.

The moves address depth concerns for the Raiders, who suffered multiple injuries during their Week 11 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Coaching Changes

Antonio Pierce’s midseason coaching shakeup remains a topic of discussion. Earlier this month, Pierce dismissed:

  • Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy
  • Quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello
  • Offensive line coach James Cregg

During the CBS broadcast of Week 11, former NFL kicker Jay Feely shared Pierce’s reasoning for these changes. Pierce emphasized that his goal is to secure the head coaching role permanently, stating that the adjustments were necessary to position the team for future success. Feely praised Pierce for his decisive actions, especially as a first-time head coach, noting the difficulty of making such significant moves midseason.

The Raiders’ bold strategy under Pierce highlights their commitment to reshaping their team culture and competitiveness as the season progresses.
