Ndah suffered a tibia fracture during a match against Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership at Orlando Stadium.
The Nigerian defender, who has been a key player for the team under coach Jose Riveiro, played a crucial role in helping the Pirates qualify for the Caf Champions League group stages and reach the MTN8 final.
Although the Pirates secured a 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 final, Ndah was unable to participate due to his injury. His absence is a significant loss for the Sea Robbers as they face a busy and competitive season.
In a statement, the club confirmed, “The Buccaneers will be without key defender Olisa Ndah, who will be sidelined for an extended period.”
The medical team revealed that the 26-year-old’s injury, sustained during the match against Polokwane City, is a tibia fracture. The complexity of the injury means that a decision on surgery is not straightforward, but Ndah has been ruled out for the remainder of the year.
Other injured players at the Buccaneers include Thalente Mbatha, Bandile Shandu, Tapelo Xoki, Goodman Mosele, Zakhele Lepasa, Thabiso Lebitso, Sandile Mthethwa, and Ethan Visagie.
Pirates are set to face newly promoted Magesi FC at Orlando Stadium on Saturday in their Carling Black Label Cup opener.
