On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals will square off at Lambeau Field in their Week Six encounter. The Packers, who defeated the Los Angeles Rams on the road this past Sunday, are now 3-2 and hoping to win for the second straight game. Since 1966, Green Bay had not defeated the Rams in Los Angeles before.
The Packers will start at least one of their starting wide receivers against the Cardinals, in contrast to their victory against the Rams. Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson did not play in Los Angeles. While Doubs was suspended by the Packers for behaviour that was harmful to the team, Watson was sidelined due to an ankle ailment.
Doubs was there for the entirety of the Packers’ practice on Wednesday of last week, but he was absent on Thursday and Friday. Head coach Matt LaFleur stated at the time that it was due to personal issues.
However, a report published late last week by Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated said that Doubs missed practice because he wasn’t happy with his position on the offensive line. Many supporters were perplexed by this claim because Doubs has always been perceived as a player who puts the team first.
The Packers, for their part, did not confirm or refute the allegation. Doubs was suspended for the Rams game in his hometown of Los Angeles, though.
Even when the squad triumphed, supporters couldn’t get rid of the impression that there was something about the Doubs issue they were unaware of. They were correct, too.
The third-year wide receiver spoke to the media on Friday for the first time following his suspension.
As stated by The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, Doubs stated, “I had some things going on mentally.” Later, he said to reporters that he was in good mental health.
“I had to see to it that the family was reunited. There were certain things going on off the field, in my opinion, so I just wanted to be clear that there was nothing going on with only the organization, the players, or the staff.
Put differently, Huber was given false information by his sources when they claimed that Doubs was dissatisfied with his position on the squad.
This is a really good offence. We have a few ball players in our space. It’s much more than just me, clearly, figuring out my place in it. It’s only about winning football games in this league.
What specifically was the cause of his absence, then? Doubt, in his right mind, did not want to divulge the response. It was intimate. The people who ought to know already know.
It’s not as large as they believe. I am aware that stories are always made. It wasn’t a huge thing, just hearing it from me. I simply have a few things going on outside of the field. All I needed to do was make sure I had that under control.
Now, Sunday and the Cardinals are the main emphasis. Both the Packers and Doubs have moved on from the incident. Fans ought to as well.
