Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been the talk of the league this week as he has become the first high-profile star to request a trade this season.
Fans and media have jumped all over the news and started getting excited about where Adams could wind up, but one insider recently named the team that has been pushing hardest to bring him in.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared that the New Orleans Saints have been the “most aggressive team” in their pursuit of Adams so far with the New York Jets still reportedly atop Adams’ wish list.
Given his familiarity with quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr, it should come as no surprise that the Saints and Jets are leading the pack in the Adams sweepstakes. However, Rapoport also noted in his NFL.com piece that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills are strongly considering acquiring the standout receiver.
Additionally, according to Rapoport, Adams should be well and fully recovered from his hamstring issue by next week, so there shouldn’t be any potential delays in trades.
Adams played all 17 games in his first two seasons with the Raiders, catching over 100 passes for a total of 22 touchdowns. Through three games, he has 18 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints boast the top scoring offence in the league, but in addition to Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, they could use another weapon at wide receiver.
If they can pull it off, Adams would make sense and could provide them the edge they need to win the NFC South.
