The Browns are hoping that, at last, a few important players will be back in the starting lineup for their Week 5 clash against the Washington Commanders this afternoon.
Five players have already been declared out of the game: Jordan Hicks, linebacker, offensive tackle James Hudson, defensive end Alex Wright, and running backs Nick Chubb and Nyheim Hines.
There’s hope that offensive tackles Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills, offensive guard Michael Dunn, tight end David Njoku, and running back Pierre Strong Jr. can play today because five additional players have been rated as questionable.
Wills, one of those offensive tackles, is expected to play against Washington, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter (via X).
Schefter reported, “OT Jedrick Willis, who is listed as questionable due to a knee injury, is also likely to return for the Browns.”
A possible return to the starting lineup for Njoku was also mentioned in Schefter’s post.
During the first four weeks of the season, the offensive line for the Browns has been injured many times.
Wills, who faced the New York Giants two weeks prior, was forced to leave the game after just 40 offensive snaps due to a recurrence of a knee issue.
Due to a sprained MCL, guard Wyatt Teller was also lost during that game. Cleveland placed him on the Injured Reserve (IR) list prior to the team’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders last week.
Conklin had a hamstring injury during practice that kept him from playing against the Giants or Raiders, thus neither player has seen action this season.
