This week, Davante Adams made a trade request from the Las Vegas Raiders. According to reports, there is one team that the star wide receiver truly wants to play for.
Adams wants to play for the New York Jets, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver is willing to play for multiple teams, but rejoining Aaron Rodgers would be his first preference.
Most teams that have interest in Adams would require him to renegotiate his contract in order to help facilitate a move. Of Adams’s $17.5 million paycheck for this season, he still owes over $13 million. He has contracts for $35.6 million for 2026 and $36.6 million for 2057. That may offer him some degree of influence over his future, but the Raiders, according to Rapoport, are determined to act in the best interests of their team and won’t just fulfill Adams’ desire.
Adams would also be willing to play for the following teams: the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and San Francisco 49ers, according to Rapoport.
Between 2014 and 2021, Adams and Rodgers were teammates for eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers. During that time, Adams was selected to the Pro Bowl five times in a row, and he and Aaron Rodgers were among the NFL’s top quarterback/wide receiver combinations.
The previous season, there were rumours that the Jets were committed to finding a means to sign Adams. It is therefore not surprising that Rodgers seemed to desire a reunion with his old comrade.
After three games this season, Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and a score. Due to a hamstring issue, he was sidelined last week and is not anticipated to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
