The Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles faced off in Brazil’s inaugural Friday night NFL game, delivering an exciting match right from the start. The Eagles ultimately secured a 34-29 win over the Packers.
The game was full of dramatic twists, but it ended in disappointment for Green Bay. On the penultimate play, quarterback Jordan Love suffered what appeared to be a lower leg injury after being tackled by Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat while pitching the ball to running back Josh Jacobs.
Love went down in significant pain and was replaced by Malik Willis for the final play of the game. After the match, head coach Matt LaFleur provided an update that was less than reassuring.
Speaking to Larry McCarren on the Packers Radio Network, LaFleur expressed concern, saying, “I don’t know. We’re waiting. Obviously very concerned about it. We’ll wait to find out when we do more tests.”
This is not the news any Packers fan wants to hear about their quarterback, but it’s the current situation in Green Bay. Earlier in July, the Packers had given Love a four-year, $220 million extension, marking him as their franchise quarterback. Prior to his injury, the 25-year-old was performing well, completing 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
The Packers amassed 414 yards of total offense and appeared to continue their strong performance from 2023. Now, everyone in Green Bay is hoping that Love’s injury is not as severe as it initially seemed.
