BOSTON LATEST: Top MLB Exec Unveils Potential Red Sox Call-Up Amid Playoff Push. As Boston’s Front Office Reveals Red Sox’s Link To Superstar Impending Free Agent…SEE MORE…

The Red Sox are enjoying an exhilarating season, but much of the focus this year has been on Boston’s top prospects.

This attention is well-deserved, as the promising players in the Red Sox system are making waves as they progress through professional baseball. Recently, four of Boston’s top five prospects—Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, Kyle Teel, and Kristian Campbell—were rightfully promoted to Triple-A.

Although these young talents won’t impact the Red Sox this season, Chase Meidroth might. MLB.com recently highlighted Meidroth as a potential key call-up for Boston, noting his impressive performance. Despite the promotion of the Big 4, Meidroth has been solid at Triple-A all season, with a .294/.445/.395 batting line and 12 steals in 101 games. The 2022 fourth-round pick from San Diego excels in on-base skills and plays second base, a position that has been inconsistent for Boston.

Adding Meidroth could provide stability at second base and add a potent right-handed bat to the lineup, something the Red Sox have needed throughout the season.

Looking ahead, the Red Sox might also get a significant boost from Trevor Story, who is expected to return before the season ends. Although Boston was active during the trade deadline, they didn’t make a major splash. This could change in the offseason, with the team likely to pursue top free-agent starting pitchers.

One notable name is Corbin Burnes, who could be a prime target for the Red Sox, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. However, the Orioles are expected to make a strong effort to retain him, given his impressive performance and the investment made to acquire him. Nevertheless, the Red Sox should aggressively pursue Burnes once free agency opens.

Boston also has other options, with Feinsand mentioning Jack Flaherty as another potential right-handed starter who could join the team this winter.
