The New York Knicks have announced that Jacob Toppin has been signed to a Two-Way Contract.

Toppin, who is 24 years old and stands 6 feet 8 inches tall weighing 200 pounds, played nine games for the Knicks last season, averaging 1.4 points on 55.6-percent shooting and 0.8 rebounds in 4.2 minutes per game. In 25 games (all starts) with the Westchester Knicks, he averaged 19.8 points on 48.8-percent shooting, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 36.7 minutes per game.

He set a career-high with 40 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists in a 139-128 win over the Birmingham Squadron on February 9, 2024. Toppin also appeared in 17 G League Showcase games (16 starts), averaging 14.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 32.8 minutes per game.

He led the Westchester Knicks to the 2023-24 G League Showcase Cup Championship, scoring a team-high 23 points with eight rebounds and four steals against the Indiana Mad Ants on December 22, 2023. Additionally, he finished third in the 2024 NBA Dunk Contest.

Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 NBA season, the Knicks are hopeful that Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson will be fully recovered from their injuries by the start of the season. Randle, who underwent shoulder surgery in April, is reported to be progressing well in his rehab, with a re-evaluation scheduled for September.

This is promising news for the Knicks, as Randle’s scoring was missed during his absence, even though the team performed well and nearly reached the Eastern Conference Finals.

In contrast, Mitchell Robinson’s status is less clear. Robinson, who had surgery in mid-May to address a stress injury in his left ankle, has not yet been cleared for high-intensity activities. There are still several challenges he must overcome before he can resume full practice.
