Canada’s top national women’s and men’s teams will represent the country at the 2024 Pan Continental Curling Championships in Lacombe, Alta., Canada announced today.
Team Rachel Homan from Ottawa and Team Brad Gushue from St. John’s will compete in the third annual Championships, scheduled to take place from October 27 to November 2 at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex and the Lacombe Curling Club.
The Pan Continental Championships serve as a qualifier for the world men’s and women’s curling championships.
“This will be our first chance to compete in the Pan Continental Championships, and we understand the importance of this event,” said Homan, whose team includes vice-skip Tracy Fleury, second Emma Miskew, lead Sarah Wilkes, alternate Rachel Brown, and coach Brendan Bottcher. “We’re excited for the opportunity to play in Lacombe and represent our country.”
“Wearing the Canadian uniform is always a special experience, and we’re thrilled that this event is returning to an arena setting in Lacombe,” added Gushue, whose team (vice-skip Mark Nichols, second E.J. Harnden, lead Geoff Walker) won gold at the first two Pan Continental Championships (2022 in Calgary and 2023 in Kelowna, B.C.).
