Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix may not have the same charismatic flair as former first-round pick Tim Tebow, but he displays a comparable level of humble confidence. This modest assurance is evident both in Nix’s gameplay and his interactions with the media.
Nix is known for his diplomatic responses when needed, yet he also speaks candidly about his performances, such as his recent strong showing against the Colts.
Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III is among those who have praised Nix’s impressive performance. Griffin remarked, “Bo Nix was the most efficient QB in his draft class due to his ability to quickly process complex schemes and his rapid release, as seen on this touchdown throw. He demonstrated his skills by going 15/21 for 125 yards with four scoring drives in his preseason debut, showcasing his creativity as well.”
This endorsement comes from someone experienced in succeeding as a rookie in the NFL, having made the Pro Bowl and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2012.
For Nix to have a successful long career, the Denver Broncos will need to ensure he has a strong offensive line to protect him. This includes moves like the recent 4-year, $80 million contract extension for guard Quinn Meinerz. However, according to Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder, the key remaining task is re-signing former NFL All-Pro left tackle Garett Bolles, who is in the final year of his 4-year, $68 million deal, set to earn $16 million in 2024.
In his recent game, Nix started off slowly but eventually settled into a rhythm, completing 15-of-21 passes with a touchdown to Marvin Mims, along with several effective runs.
Regarding the transition from college to the professional level, Nix doesn’t seem particularly fazed. He noted, “I could tell the game was faster and more professional, with defenders in the right spots and effective disguises. But I felt calm and relaxed. It was just a game with familiar defensive schemes like Cover 3, quarters, and man. We executed well, stayed in rhythm, and ran the ball efficiently, so overall, it was a very productive day.”
