The Pittsburgh Steelers are bolstering their receiving corps with a new addition for quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as they head into the 2024 season.
According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Steelers are bringing in former Texas Longhorns receiver Tarik Black on a one-year contract valued at $795K. The team has officially confirmed the signing.
Black, who played his senior year at Texas in 2020, spent his first three college seasons at Michigan. After going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts but remained on their practice squad without seeing regular-season action.
In his sole season with the Longhorns, Black participated in eight games, recording 10 receptions for 240 yards and one touchdown. He had a standout performance in the season opener against UTEP, catching five passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, and made notable plays throughout the season, including a 72-yard reception in a win over Baylor, where he led the game in receiving yards.
However, with no progress on a contract extension between Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers, the possibility of a trade is growing. Speculation suggests that the 49ers may prefer to trade Aiyuk for a player rather than just a draft pick, with the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns emerging as potential trade partners.
