LSU football player Javien Toviano surrendered to authorities in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday regarding allegations of video voyeurism.
Toviano, 19, from Arlington, Texas, allegedly filmed himself engaging in sexual activity with a woman without her consent, as detailed in an arrest warrant.
Video voyeurism carries penalties that may involve up to a year in prison and fines. It applies to individuals who record others in private settings like homes, bathrooms, or dressing rooms without their knowledge. The offense can also encompass “upskirting,” where images are covertly taken under a person’s clothing.
According to The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate, the woman discovered videos of their encounters on Toviano’s iPad. These recordings were allegedly made using a clock with a concealed camera near the bed.
The woman informed detectives that Toviano had previously recorded their intimate moments without her permission, despite her objections. During police questioning, Toviano reportedly confessed to using a hidden camera to film their sexual activities. Details about Toviano’s bond were not immediately released, and it remains unclear if he has legal representation. LSU stated that Toviano has been suspended from all team activities following departmental policies and declined further comment to respect the ongoing legal proceedings.
