BENGAL TIGER NEWS: LSU Tigers Manager Brian Kelly Gives Huge Take And Statement On Garrett Nussmeier Being The New Starter, Compares Him To Former Heisman Trophy Winner And Star QB Who Is Now Commanders Rookie, Saying…SEE MORE…

The LSU Tigers are gearing up for the 2024 college football season with aspirations of remaining contenders for the National Championship, although they are undergoing a significant transition.

Jayden Daniels, their star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner from last season, has moved on to become the starting quarterback for the Washington Commanders in the NFL. LSU now faces the challenge of replacing him, with Garrett Nussmeier stepping into the starting role.

Nussmeier has demonstrated considerable talent and potential heading into the 2024 season. While he possesses the ability to fill Daniels’ shoes effectively, he will need to prove himself on the field.

During the 2023 season, albeit in limited playing time, Nussmeier completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 591 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. He also scored a rushing touchdown.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly has expressed confidence in his new starting quarterback, drawing comparisons between Nussmeier and Daniels.

“There are certainly common traits. I think foremost, beyond the skill set, is his ability to throw the football. Mentally, he has the capacity to translate what we teach in the classroom onto the field,” Kelly remarked.

Kelly’s endorsement underscores his belief that Nussmeier can step up and deliver a strong performance in the upcoming season.

Off the field, Nussmeier has also found success, ranking among the top NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) athletes in college football. On3 currently ranks him as the No. 17 college football player from an NIL perspective, with an estimated valuation of $929,000.

The 2024 season holds significant weight for LSU’s new starting quarterback as he aims to showcase his abilities and attract attention from NFL teams ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Kelly appears unconcerned about the offensive capabilities with Nussmeier at the helm, citing his strong arm, high football IQ, and immense potential. The season ahead promises to be intriguing as Nussmeier shoulders the pressure to perform from the outset. While expectations are high and the pressure is palpable, fans can anticipate Nussmeier rising to the occasion and contributing to what could be a competitive season for LSU. A berth in the College Football Playoff is a realistic goal if he fulfills his potential on the field.
