Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers are actively participating in SEC Media Days, marking Day 1 of the event with their presence.

Kelly addressed the audience in Dallas, Texas at 10am CT, emphasizing the necessary improvements ahead of the upcoming season.

Following Kelly’s appearance, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban discussed LSU and the season’s expectations on SEC Network, speaking positively about Kelly and the Tigers.

“Brian is similar to myself,” Saban commented. “He doesn’t concern himself with expectations or external opinions because of his extensive experience. He believes in his process of continual improvement each week. He won’t let outside noise affect him, which is what I often refer to as ‘rat poison.’ That can cause unnecessary anxiety and impact decision-making, whether on the field or sidelines. I believe Brian will handle that well.”

Kelly is entering his third season in Baton Rouge with optimism about piecing together a successful campaign, drawing from his track record of third-year successes at previous coaching stops.

Greg McElroy, former Alabama quarterback and current ESPN analyst, expressed high expectations for LSU’s 2024 season.

“I think LSU has tremendous potential this year,” McElroy remarked. “Their ceiling is very high, especially if Garrett Nussmeier can effectively step into the shoes of Jayden Daniels, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. I have confidence in their offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, who takes over the play-calling duties. They should excel on offense.”

McElroy highlighted concerns about LSU’s defense, which struggled last season under former coordinator Matt House.

“They’ve made changes, bringing in Blake Baker from Missouri as the new defensive coordinator,” McElroy noted. “Baker brings an aggressive style that allows players to showcase passion and energy. With improvement on defense, LSU could be a formidable team in 2024.” LSU kicks off their regular season on September 1 against the USC Trojans in Las Vegas, setting high expectations for what could be an impressive season in Louisiana.
