Clemson’s first offer to a quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class has resulted in their initial commitment for the upcoming cycle. Tait Reynolds, the top-ranked junior player in Arizona, announced his decision to join Clemson on Sunday, opting for the ACC powerhouse over more than 25 other scholarship offers.
According to 247Sports rankings, Reynolds is ranked as the nation’s 25th best quarterback and holds the top overall prospect spot in Arizona for the 2026 class.
Initially committed to play baseball at Arizona State, where he was slated to play infield, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Reynolds has increasingly focused on football, particularly as a quarterback. His evolving skills and potential have made him an intriguing prospect for Clemson moving forward.
“I plan to continue playing both football and baseball in college, at least during my first year,” Reynolds explained. “I want to keep my options open and enjoy competing in both sports. Balancing them keeps me busy and tired, but it’s better than being idle. It involves a lot of recovery like ice baths, but I love the challenge.”
Greg Biggins, a national scouting analyst for 247Sports, observed Reynolds closely at the Elite 11 Regional in Los Angeles earlier this offseason and was impressed by his strong arm and athleticism.
“He has the ability to throw deep passes, and he can make plays with his legs,” Biggins noted in his scouting report. “When running the zone read or breaking free in the secondary, he resembles more of a fullback than a quarterback. He’s tough, willing to stay in the pocket under pressure to make throws, and not afraid of contact when running the ball.”
