The Los Angeles Lakers caused a stir by selecting Bronny James in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, but according to Pitt fans, Blake Hinson was also worthy of consideration for that pick.

Therefore, it’s fitting that although Hinson wasn’t drafted by the Lakers, he’s set to join them this summer.

Following the 2024 NBA Draft, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Thursday night that Hinson has signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Despite not being drafted, Hinson had an impressive stint at the University of Pittsburgh, showcasing his talents over the past two years.

Known for his size, three-point shooting prowess, and basketball IQ, Hinson has a promising future in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers have officially announced the signing of forwards Blake Hinson and Armel Traore to two-way contracts, as confirmed by Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka. Specific terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Hinson, standing at 6’8” and weighing 230 pounds, started every game last season for the University of Pittsburgh, averaging 18.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 33.6 minutes of play. He shot an impressive 42.1% from three-point range, the best in the ACC.

The Florida native was also among the top in the conference for three-pointers made (110) and points per game, earning him All-ACC First Team honors.

Before his tenure at Pittsburgh from 2022 to 2024, Hinson played two seasons at the University of Mississippi (2018-2020). Over his collegiate career, the 24-year-old averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game across both programs.
