Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, now playing for the Denver Broncos, proposed to his girlfriend, Nicolette Dellanno, while they were in Italy. They both shared the news and photos from their trip to Amalfi, Italy, on Instagram.
Wilson expressed his feelings in a heartfelt message, saying, “Before I met you, I didn’t fully understand what love meant. You’re not just my partner, but my best friend and everything to me. I’m excited to create countless memories with you, Nic. I love you.”
Dellanno also shared her joy, writing, “Zach, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Every day I’m inspired by your strength, and I’m so proud of you. I love you deeply and can’t wait to spend our lives together.”
After his college career, Zach Wilson was chosen by the Jets as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Starting his rookie season as the Jets’ quarterback, Wilson faced challenges with multiple knee injuries that sidelined him for games in his first two seasons.
During his second NFL season, Wilson was benched midway through and later returned to the lineup, only to be benched again. In the 2023 season, he began as Aaron Rodgers’ backup. However, Rodgers sustained a season-ending injury early in New York’s first game, thrusting Wilson back into the starting role. The team continued to struggle with familiar weaknesses from previous seasons.
This engagement marks a significant milestone in Wilson’s eventful offseason. After three seasons with the New York Jets, he was traded to the Denver Broncos earlier in the spring. Prior to his NFL career, Wilson had a standout tenure at BYU, culminating in an impressive 11-1 season. In his time in the league, Wilson has accumulated 6,293 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions, along with 498 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
