The WNBA revealed the 2024 All-Star roster on Tuesday, with Clark named among the top-10 vote-getters from fans, current WNBA players, and a panel of national sportswriters and broadcasters.
Clark led all players in fan voting with 700,735 votes, followed closely by her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston at 618,680 votes. Reese, initially outside the top 10 in voting, was selected as one of the eight players by WNBA coaches.
Both rookies, Clark and Reese, are beginning to establish themselves in the WNBA. Clark has been averaging 16.4 points, shooting 38.5 percent from three-point range, along with 8.4 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game in 10 starts since June 7. Meanwhile, Reese has been on a remarkable streak of 11 consecutive double-doubles. She leads the league in rebounds per game with 11.8 and is among the few players averaging a double-double this season.
Clark’s Indiana Fever and Reese’s Chicago Sky have faced each other three times this season, with Indiana holding a 2-1 record. They are scheduled to meet once more in the regular season on August 30 at Wintrust Arena.
Their rivalry dates back to their college days, where Reese and her team often prevailed in their matchups against Clark’s Iowa, including a victory in the 2023 national championship game. Now, as WNBA All-Stars, Clark and Reese will join forces for the first time to play against Team USA during the All-Star weekend. Reflecting on this, Clark emphasized to reporters after a recent game that while their joint participation is exciting, the focus should remain on all the talented players involved and their collective achievements.
