BYU Football Defensive End, Tyler Batty Named To Pre-Season All…

BYU defensive end Tyler Batty was announced on Tuesday as part of the preseason Big 12 All-Conference team for the upcoming season. Batty, who is entering his senior year, received All-Big 12 second team recognition for his performance in 2023.

After the 2023 season, Tyler Batty opted to return to BYU for his senior season rather than enter the professional ranks. His decision is expected to significantly bolster BYU’s defense in 2024.

Batty was widely acknowledged as BYU’s top pass rusher last season, recording impressive statistics. According to Pro Football Focus, he amassed 34 total pressures (more than double the next highest player), 6 sacks, and 24 stops. Batty alone generated 26% of BYU’s quarterback pressures.

BYU struggled as a team to pressure opposing quarterbacks in 2023, ranking near the bottom in sacks among all FBS teams at 129th out of 133. Nonetheless, Tyler Batty emerged as a standout performer in their pass rush.

His return for another season provides BYU with an opportunity to improve significantly in this critical aspect for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
