Billy Barlow, formerly a starting pitcher for the Clemson Tigers, recently announced his decision to transfer to Florida via social media earlier this week. Clemson’s loss to Florida in the NCAA Super Regionals made Barlow’s decision particularly significant, as it came at a time when Clemson fell short of advancing to the College World Series.
Hailing from North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Barlow completed his redshirt sophomore season with Clemson. He began the season excelling in a starting role during non-conference play before transitioning primarily to relief duties in ACC matchups.
Across 15 games, including 10 starts, he posted a 6-1 record with a 4.28 ERA. In 48.1 innings pitched, he recorded 42 strikeouts and 20 walks.
During the Florida series, Barlow did not start but made a relief appearance, pitching 0.2 innings where he walked two batters, struck out one, and did not concede a hit.
Barlow’s season highlights included winning four of his first six starts, each lasting five innings or more and allowing no more than two earned runs.
He also secured victories in ACC play, notably against Georgia Tech on May 5 and Boston College on May 17, both victories coming in relief appearances.
