Garrett Nussmeier is set to step into the role of LSU football’s starting quarterback, receiving praise from one of football’s all-time greats. Speaking at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, Peyton Manning expressed his approval of Nussmeier.
“We’ve been in touch. He attended our camp last year. He’s excellent with the kids,” Manning remarked. “I really enjoyed watching him perform in that bowl game last year, and I’m looking forward to watching him this upcoming season.”
Nussmeier made his debut as a starter in LSU’s victory over Wisconsin in the Reliaquest Bowl this past January. In that game, he threw for 395 yards and three touchdowns, earning him the title of offensive MVP.
Following the departure of last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, Jayden Daniels, to the NFL, Nussmeier is expected to take over as LSU’s starting quarterback for the 2024 season.
