The Clemson Tigers football recruiting team received a significant lift today when a prized recruit reopened his recruitment. Hayes Fawcett from On3 reported that Dillon Alfred, a four-star wide receiver from Saraland, AL in the 2025 class, had decommitted from Ole Miss, where he had been committed since April under Lane Kiffin’s leadership.
Shortly after announcing his decision to part ways with Ole Miss, Alfred revealed on X that he had received an offer from Clemson. It was a tough day for the Rebels, losing a total of three commitments, but potentially a fruitful one for the Tigers.
“I’m open to anyone right now and I’m just trying to make sure that I do what is best for me moving forward because wherever I go I’m gonna be there for the next 3 to 4 years so I have to make my final decision count,” Alfred told On3’s Chad Simmons in an interview. “Ole Miss will still be at the top, Arkansas, Clemson, Maybe Missouri, and possibly Texas A&M.”
Alfred is ranked as the No. 358 player in the nation according to 247Sports’ composite rankings and the No. 54 wide receiver in his class. Currently, Clemson’s recruiting class ranks No. 6 nationally, and if Alfred chooses to join them, he would be their highest-rated receiver. Their current top receiver commit is three-star Carleton Preston, ranked No. 643 nationally and No. 98 at his position, making Alfred a significant addition to the class.
“The ability to make an impact early, educational degree path, and coaching staff will be the most important factors in the final decision,” Alfred later emphasized to Simmons.
Since the 2023 class, Alfred would only be the third four-star receiver for Clemson, potentially paving the way for early playing time. Clemson’s coaching staff, led by Dabo Swinney, carries considerable prestige in college football. While his decision is not certain, Clemson has emerged as a compelling contender in Alfred’s recruitment process.
