BYU Football Beats Conference Foes, And Lands The Commitment Of Fast Rising Offensive Tackle from…

Andrew Williams has experienced a surge in recruitment this summer, particularly in June. The 6-foot-7, 275-pound prospect garnered offers from Big 12 schools like Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State, all of which came following an impressive showing at a camp.

Following his visit to BYU’s camp earlier this month, Williams received an offer from BYU and was subsequently hosted for an official visit the following week. Today, he has committed to BYU under the guidance of coach TJ Woods.

Hailing from Kirksville High School in Missouri, which competes in Class 4 football, Williams has managed to attract attention despite not playing at one of the state’s largest schools. His performances at various camps were pivotal in drawing interest from Big 12 programs, although he had already amassed offers from FCS schools and Ivy League institutions based on his on-field accomplishments.

This recruitment victory holds significant meaning for BYU and coach TJ Woods. Securing Williams’ commitment over conference rivals reflects positively on the program.

Additionally, beating out former BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, now at Kansas, in recruiting adds another layer of accomplishment for Woods. Grimes had previously contributed to BYU’s formidable offensive line before moving to Kansas, while Woods, now the offensive line coach at BYU, has made a statement with this successful recruitment effort.
