Outfielder Vance Honeycutt received recognition on Wednesday by being named to the D1Baseball.com First Team All-American squad. This marks his fifth All-America selection this offseason, along with earning the ACC Defensive Player of the Year accolade. In 2024, Honeycutt achieved a .318 batting average while also setting new school records with 28 home runs and 88 runs scored.
Vance Honeycutt concludes his North Carolina baseball career with several accolades. Alongside earning another All-American recognition from D1Baseball, he was also selected for the College World Series All-Tournament team. The announcement came on Tuesday, following Tennessee’s victory over Texas A&M in the decisive third game.
Honeycutt played a pivotal role for North Carolina throughout their journey to Omaha, leading them through the Chapel Hill Regional and Super Regional. In Omaha, he was standout player, contributing significantly despite UNC finishing with a 1-2 record. His performance included five hits, five RBIs, and two home runs, including a memorable walk-off hit against Virginia in the opening game.
Known for his defensive prowess, which earned him the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award, Honeycutt was one of four Atlantic Coast Conference players selected for the All-Tournament team, alongside NC State’s Alec Makarewicz, Florida State’s Jaxson West, and Jaime Ferrer.
Looking ahead, Honeycutt is expected to be a high pick in the upcoming 2024 MLB Draft, likely hearing his name called in the first round scheduled for July.
