The Minnesota Vikings traded up in the 2024 NFL Draft to secure JJ McCarthy as their quarterback of the future. However, whenever he makes his debut, the Vikings will be hoping McCarthy demonstrates better passing skills than he did on Tuesday.
McCarthy had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Minnesota Twins vs. Tampa Bay Rays game. Unfortunately, his throw missed the mark by quite a bit.
“It was bad. So bad,” remarked a Vikings fan. “Thankfully, there were only 63 people there to witness our quarterback of the future launch a duck. To his credit, a baseball weighs approximately 9 oz less than a football and the size difference isn’t even close to a comparison. It’s going to be a challenging season #SKOL.”
Despite his less-than-impressive first pitch, McCarthy is still adjusting to his new surroundings. He remains optimistic that his performance on the field will truly demonstrate his abilities to fans.
When the Vikings provide him with the chance, he’ll be better prepared than he was for the Twins’ call. Dallas Turner is also aiming to make a similar impact.
