Tennessee Floors Florida State In CWS championship series, To Make First…

The Tennessee Vols are headed to their first college baseball championship game in a very long time.

Tennessee took control early against Florida State on Wednesday afternoon, eliminating the Seminoles from the College World Series with a 7-2 victory to secure their first appearance in the championship game since 1951.

Zander Sechrist delivered a strong performance for the Vols, allowing just 2 earned runs over 6.1 innings. At the plate, Christian Moore, Blake Burke, and Billy Amick combined to go 7-for-14 in the top three spots of Tennessee’s lineup, driving in 4 runs.

Tennessee wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning. A walk and a single set up runners at the corners, with Moore crossing the plate on a fielder’s choice that saw the Seminoles’ third baseman mishandle a grounder. Another walk and a single by Hunter Ensley, taking advantage of a hanging slider, extended the lead to 2-0. Then, with runners again at the corners and two outs, an errant pickoff attempt sailed past first base, allowing Dylan Dreiling to score.
