Joey Logano and Team Penske had a successful outing at Iowa Speedway, although Logano, driving the No. 22 car, expressed dissatisfaction with the track’s racing conditions.
Despite this, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion managed to secure a crucial sixth-place finish on Father’s Day, which was important as he strives to secure a playoff spot, currently being outside the cutoff. Nevertheless, Logano appears to be edging closer to achieving his first win of the 2024 season.
Despite his respectable sixth-place finish, Joey Logano humorously criticized Iowa Speedway’s recent repaving efforts after the race. The Team Penske driver jokingly questioned whether NASCAR had run out of funds rather than time, as officials had claimed throughout the weekend.
“I think it would be better if they re-paved the rest of it,” Joey Logano commented to FOX’s Bob Pockrass after the race. “Because at no point does the track have more than two-and-a-half lanes, three lanes. Like, it’ll never be wider, the way it is, ever, ever.
So I would probably just do the rest. You don’t have to do the whole race track. You know, you could keep the straightaways the way it is, that’s fine. I would probably just bring it to where it all ends at the same point, off the corner, and maybe just do the rest to the wall.”
