Despite the Dallas Mavericks’ defeat to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, Kyrie Irving posted a message to fans following their significant loss.
“Tribe, let’s stay united no matter what. Through the highs and lows, victories and defeats, achievements and setbacks. Keep your heads held high,” Irving shared on X, previously known as Twitter. “This mission transcends us. I love you all! Hélà.”
Irving had a challenging series, contributing just 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting in Boston’s decisive 106-88 victory to secure their 18th NBA championship title. He was well aware of the tough conditions at TD Garden throughout the Finals and anticipated both the physical and mental challenges of the series.
Despite Irving’s tenure with the Celtics ending on a less-than-ideal note, he made a point to congratulate some of his former teammates after the Mavericks “encountered a team that outplayed us fairly and squarely.”
“After shaking everyone’s hands, that was my way of showing respect for their journey,” Irving explained to reporters post-game. “They’ve experienced an incredible five-year stretch, with Game 7s and Finals losses. They understand this bitter feeling of being here, answering questions about what comes next. I believe they’ve used all of this as motivation.”
