HURRICANES NEWS: Miami Football Program Ranked Second Highest Transfer Class In ACC, After Additional Commitment From Tennessee Volunteer Edge-Rusher.

Edge rusher Tyler Baron’s Tuesday night commitment put the 2024 Miami football transfer class into the top 10.

After adding edge rusher Tyler Baron on Tuesday night, the Miami football team became the fifth program in the country with top 10 recruiting and transfer classes in 2024. With Baron added, Miami signed the fourth-best class of 2024 and currently has the 10th-ranked transfer class.

According to 247Sports rankings, Baron is the 10th edge rusher and 72nd-ranked transfer in the 2024 portal. Edge rusher Elijah Alston, a Marshall transfer, was previously added by Miami. With Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor, two returning starters at edge rusher, Miami will have one of the top edge rush teams in the country.

In 2023, Baron recorded 28 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks, 2.0 passes deflected, and one forced fumble in what was his best season as a college player. With Alston and Baron on the edge, Miami could bring Bain and Mesidor inside on passing downs to create a potent pass rush.

Miami is now the ACC’s second-best-ranked transfer class. First in the ACC and sixth nationwide is Florida State. Florida State has 17 new transfers, compared to Miami’s 15. In the ACC, Baron is rated as the fourth-best transfer edge rusher. First is Florida State’s Marvin Jones Jr.

Baron is Miami’s fifteenth transfer addition—sixth this spring and tenth on defense—to the roster for 2024. During August training camp, nearly every Miami transfer will be able to contend for first-team playing time. A few of the new arrivals give the Miami team of 2024 the much-needed depth.

Everyone agrees that Miami signed the finest 2024 DL class. The 2024 freshmen may be in the transfer class. Miami also added defensive tackles Simeon Barrow from Michigan State, C.J. Clark from North Carolina State, and Marley Cook from Middle Tennessee State as transfers in addition to Alston.

Over the past year and a half, Miami defensive line coaches Joe Salave’a and Jason Taylor have done an outstanding job of collecting talent. Taylor was the class of 2024’s third-best recruiter. Transfers are not included in that. Miami ought to have a top-tier DL in 2024.
